Terms of Service

Effective: May 31, 2026

By creating an account, submitting a flight interest request, or otherwise using FlyAlong, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. What FlyAlong is

FlyAlong is a private coordination tool that allows certificated private pilots ("Pilots") to share information about planned personal flights with people they already know — friends, family, and colleagues ("Flyers"). FlyAlong is not an air carrier, charter operator, air taxi service, or aviation marketplace. No compensation is charged or collected through this platform.

Any expense sharing between a Pilot and Flyer must be strictly pro rata — limited to the Flyer's proportionate share of the flight's fuel, oil, airport expenditures, and aircraft rental fees, as permitted under 14 C.F.R. § 61.113(c) and FAA Advisory Circular 61-142. The Pilot must pay at least their own pro-rata share; all other costs (maintenance, insurance, depreciation, charts, etc.) are the Pilot's alone. FlyAlong does not facilitate payment of any kind.

2. Who can use FlyAlong

FlyAlong is not open to the general public. Pilot profiles are accessible only via a unique, unguessable personal link that each Pilot controls. Pilots are responsible for sharing their link only with a small, defined group of people with whom they have an ongoing, pre-existing relationship (family, friends, and close acquaintances) — not loose acquaintances, and not the general public.

By creating a Pilot account, you represent that you hold a valid FAA pilot certificate and medical (or valid BasicMed) appropriate for the flights you intend to operate, and that you will comply with all applicable FAA regulations.

By submitting a flight interest request as a Flyer, you acknowledge that the Pilot has sole and final discretion over whether to accept you on any flight.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or submit a request. A minor may participate in a flight only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these Terms on the minor's behalf.

3. No safety verification

FlyAlong does not verify any Pilot's certificates, ratings, medical currency, aircraft airworthiness, or insurance. Flyers rely entirely on the Pilot's representations and their own personal judgment. FlyAlong makes no representation about the safety, fitness, or qualifications of any Pilot or aircraft listed on the platform.

4. Pilot responsibilities

As a Pilot, you agree to:

  • Operate only flights you are legally authorized and currently qualified to conduct under applicable FAA regulations.
  • Ensure your aircraft is airworthy and appropriately insured for passenger-carrying operations before any flight with a Flyer.
  • Share only flights you are taking for your own reasons — you choose the destination, have your own purpose for the trip, and would make it regardless of whether anyone shares expenses. Do not fly solely to transport a Flyer. (The FAA's "common purpose" requirement under 14 C.F.R. § 61.113(c) and AC 61-142.)
  • Accept no more than a pro rata share of the flight's fuel, oil, airport expenditures, and aircraft rental fees, and pay at least your own pro-rata share; all other costs are yours alone.
  • Share your personal FlyAlong link, and approve followers, only for people with whom you have an ongoing, pre-existing relationship — not loose acquaintances or the general public — and never post your link publicly. Routinely offering the same route to whoever wants it may be treated as "holding out."

5. Flyer responsibilities

As a Flyer, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate weight information when submitting a request, as it directly affects aircraft weight and balance calculations.
  • Understand and accept that the Pilot has complete authority over the flight and may decline or cancel your participation at any time for any reason.
  • Not hold FlyAlong liable for any aspect of the flight, including but not limited to delays, cancellations, or incidents.

6. Assumption of risk and release

Flying in a small general-aviation aircraft involves inherent risks, including the risk of serious injury or death, mechanical failure, adverse weather, and pilot error. By using FlyAlong to arrange or join a flight, you acknowledge and voluntarily accept these risks.

FlyAlong does not operate aircraft, employ or supervise pilots, or participate in any flight. It only helps people who already know each other share flight information. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you — and, as a Flyer, on behalf of your heirs and representatives — release and hold harmless FlyAlong and its operators from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, or expenses arising out of or relating to any flight arranged or discovered through FlyAlong, including injury, death, or property loss.

This release does not apply to FlyAlong's own gross negligence or willful misconduct, or to any liability that cannot be waived under applicable law.

7. Limitation of liability

FlyAlong is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, FlyAlong and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any damages arising from your use of the platform, including any flight conducted by a Pilot you connected with through FlyAlong.

Because FlyAlong is provided free of charge, our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the platform shall not exceed USD $100. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless FlyAlong and its operators from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the platform, any flight you operate or join, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of another person.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to FlyAlong at any time, with or without notice, including if we believe you have misused the platform, posted your personal link publicly, or violated these Terms. You may stop using FlyAlong at any time and request deletion of your account as described in our Privacy Policy.

10. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of FlyAlong shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Washington, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

11. General

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and FlyAlong regarding the platform and supersede any prior understandings.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of FlyAlong after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We will update the effective date above when changes are made.
